From Pints to Parliament

It wasn’t your average day in the office on Wednesday 23rd January – also known as Cumbria Day!

Stu and James swapped Station Yard for the Houses of Parliament when they headed down to London by special invitation to represent Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery on Cumbria Day.

The annual event showcases businesses, organisations and food and drink producers in Westminster. MPs, Lords, parliamentary staff and the speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, turned out to show their support.

Stu said: “We set up a table to showcase our wares and the reaction was great – we ended up giving away over 200 bottles from our range, lots of the MPs really enjoyed it. It was a really interesting place to visit – and certainly not your average Wednesday!”

Our invitation came from Tim Farron, MP for Westmorland and Lonsdale. He also invited Hawkshead Relish and Pennington’s Tea and Coffee to represent the area alongside ourselves.

Tim said: “This year’s Cumbria Day was another resounding success. As ever it was a brilliant opportunity to shine the spotlight on the most beautiful county on the planet.

“There was a real buzz at the event, and I hope it will help to provide a boost to the county’s businesses and tourist trade.

“My thanks go to all the businesses which came to the event, in particular, Hawkshead Relish, Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery and Pennington’s Tea and Coffee.

“These businesses show the great range of products that South Lakeland has to offer. It is always an honour to represent our area, but events like this make me particularly proud.”
