The Brewery

/>

Kirkby Lonsdale Brewery Co Ltd was established February 2009.

The company owners all share a passion for real ale and were keen to re-establish a local brewery. Kirkby Lonsdale has had brewing at its heart for centuries until the trade had all but died out.

After many months of planning and preperation, the brewery was finally installed by Porter Brewing Company and is situated at the Old Station Yard, Kirkby Lonsdale. Since opening, we have endeavoured to get our beer to reach all across the North of England and have opened our own beer “barn” in the heart of the town.

The name of the first beer produced, “Ruskins”, comes from the iconic Ruskin’s View which Turner famously painted in 1816. In keeping with the local theme all of the brewery pump clips are branded with an image of the local landmark, Devils Bridge, in the centre and all of our beer names have a link to the local area. We are a company with local values at heart and produce that has proven a hit with our customers.

Now in our fifteenth year we have expanded our brewing capacity with the installation of a 24 barrel plant at station yard and consolidated all the brewing to one site, this does mean unfortunately we no longer brew at the Barn, but don’t worry we have made a nice seating area for you to enjoy our beers!
We still love what we do and can’t wait to see what the future has in store!

Testimonials

Beer, Beer everywhere

Called in with my wife on a quiet Monday night and was pleasantly stunned with the size, décor and choice of drinks available. Even when quiet, has a great atmosphere and is a beer tasters heaven. Even the latest offering is burbling away in the corner. Lovely place with a friendly welcome and is worth a visit for a visit to the gents only.

Friendly brewery with good beer

Popped into the brewery on a Sunday afternoon - we found the choice of brews to be wide, catering for every beery taste, plus a good selection of imported beers and ciders. There is a small selection of food and soft drinks available. All in all, an excellent find, and well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Choose from a selection of our luxury rooms which are all en-suite, contain a flat-screen LCD TV, and provide hot beverage facilities. Visit the Orange Tree website here.

Outhouse Bothy

Hidden in the centre of one of the most desirable places to live in England. The Outhouse Bothy is a teeny tiny one-bedroom dwelling. The first thing you ll notice is the ancient (uneven) curved stone staircase, unsuitable for children. The ground floor has a dinky kitchen, microwave, small fridge, kettle, toaster & of course a kitchen sink (great excuse not to cook) The first-floor bedroom opens out to a sun trapped terrace with adjoining WC & shower room.
