The Royal Barn is officially the best pub/bar!

It’s now officially official – The Royal Barn is the ‘Best Pub/Bar’ in Cumbria!

Our Kirkby Lonsdale venue was announced as the winner of the sought-after ‘Pub or Bar of The Year’ award at the Cumbria Life Food and Drink Awards 2020!

We had a fabulous evening at the awards, hosted by celebrity chef, Phil Vickery, at Kendal College.

Owner Stu Taylor said: “We would like to say a big thank you to Cumbria Life and the judges for choosing The Royal Barn as the winner of The Best Pub/Bar 2020. We would also like to say a big thank you to our customers and to our team of staff who help make the Barn the place it is today.”

The prestigious awards ceremony returned for the ninth year on Thursday, 5^th March at Kendal College. Chefs, hoteliers, café owners, restaurateurs, producers and industry movers and shakers celebrated a year of tremendous development in the industry.

During the evening, Kendal College students cooked a three-course dinner for guests, before the winners of 14 main awards were announced.

The category that we won is an award that aims to encapsulate the evolving scene of dynamic pubs and watering holes popping up across Cumbria. Judges assessed the full experience of The Royal Barn – from the quality and selection of food/drink on offer, right through to the warmth of the welcome, majoring on a genuinely convivial atmosphere.
